S.C. architects announce legislative agenda

The South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects has released its legislative agenda for the General Assembly.

The agenda concentrates of increasing activity, creating jobs, preserving the state’s heritage and ensuring new generations of architects design a resilient future for South Carolina.

AIASC President Brad Benjamin pledged to work with the General Assembly to advance legislation that enhances the built environment, while creating a safe, sustainable future for South Carolinians, according to a press release.

“The policies in our agenda not only increase economic activity, but enhance the common good,” Benjamin said.

The agenda touches on several topics including amending the Architects & Engineers Volunteer Act allowing the governor to extend the 30-day limit for declared states of emergency, advance policies that helps small businesses grow and create jobs, protect and enhance the historic preservation tax credit and support pro bono work and community work in underserved areas.
