Columbia-based Healthy Hands Cooking, a patent-pending online cooking instructor certification program, has been accepted as a client company by SCRA’s SC Launch economic development program.

Healthy Hands, founded by Jan Pinnington, is eligible to receive mentoring and support services. The company was also approved to receive $15,000 from the SC Launch Project Development Fund, and may seek matching funds and/or investments, according to a press release.

The Healthy Hands Cooking program allows participants to complete at their own pace. The firm aims to fight childhood obesity and improve individuals' economic well-being by offering a career path for home cooks to teach others about healthy cooking and nutrition.

In January 2016, Healthy Hands Cooking announced that it had received membership in the USC/Columbia Technology Incubator to expand and improve its online training, certification, support, and class registration experience for instructors and parents.

Chartered in 1983, SCRA fosters South Carolina's innovation economy by supporting entrepreneurs, enabling academic research and its commercialization, and connecting industry to innovators.
