Veterans United Home Loans gives $50,000 to local charities

Employees from Veterans United Home Loans in Greenville recently gave local charities $10,000 each. The donations were part of Veterans United Foundation’s national Week of Giving campaign in which more than $1 million will be given to charities across the country between now and the end of the year.

“Enhancing lives and giving back is deeply engrained within our culture,” said Kelly Stephens, branch manager of Veterans United in Greenville, said in a news release. “Our employees were passionate about getting behind these organizations. We are pleased to support these local causes that have such a great impact on our community.”

The recipients included: Blue Star Mothers of South Carolina, Miracle Hill Children’s Home, The Dream Center of Pickens County, Opportunity Village, Upstate Warrior Solution and Whenlifesucks.org.

More than 90% of employees of Veterans United donate at least 1% of their paychecks to the foundation, the philanthropic division of the company. Because of employee contributions, the foundation has raised more than $30 million since 2011, according to the release. In addition to giving money to charitable organizations, the foundation also provides financial assistance to veterans and their families.
