The deadline to apply for the Midlands Minority Business Accelerator program is Friday.
The initiative is a partnership between the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina Minority Business Accelerator, funded with a seed grant from Bank of America. The program aims to advance economic inclusion by reducing economic disparities experienced by minority-owned businesses, according to its website.
The 12-month program aids business owners in creating a customized, three-year strategic plan and provides tips to increase access to capital and secure corporate and government contracts. Participating businesses must be minority-, women- or veteran-owned and headquartered or have a significant presence in the Midlands.
Boston-based nonprofit Interise created the program curriculum, led by instructor Wendell Jones. Jones is an S.C. businessman and entrepreneur with a finance degree from Wofford College.
Business owners have until Friday to apply for the program. More information and applications are available online at https://www.columbiachamber.com/business-development.
