The Duke Energy Foundation recently awarded nearly $300,000 in grants to 12 South Carolina organizations that will fund environmental projects, wildlife conservation efforts and environmental educational programs across the state.

Leadership Lexington raises $75,000 for veterans’ pavilion
A dedication ceremony for the pavilion will be held Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Central Midlands Transitional Retreat on Duffie Drive in Lexington. CMTR is a transitional housing facility for veterans which provides education and training.

Phyllis Martin has been named the Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative’s next CEO. In November, she will replace John C. Read, who has served in the role for the past five years.

The seventh annual Turkey and a $20 drive is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 26 at One80 Place. Individuals, small businesses and organizations can drop off monetary gifts, ham or turkey to help the shelter end homelessness.
