A person dies from suicide every 12.8 minutes in the United States. There is no single cause to suicide. It most often occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities of someone suffering from a mental health condition.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention aims to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide by funding scientific research, offering educational programs, educate the public about mood disorders, promote policies and legislation that impact suicide prevention and provide programs for survivors of suicide loss.
Painting With A Twist in Pooler is holding a Painting With A Purpose fundraising event from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7. The studio is located at 107 Grand Central Blvd., Suite 205, off Pooler Parkway. An entertaining art instructor will lead a creative evening of fun with a step-by-step painting of an iridescent butterfly on a 16×20 black canvas next to the words, “Your story isn’t over …”
A minimum of 50% of the event’s proceeds will benefit the organization. The event is $35 per person. To register, visit https://www.paintingwithatwist.com/studio/pooler/event/2154312/.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early. Those arriving more than 20 minutes late will not be allowed to paint. Painting classes are subject to change and cancellation for unforeseen circumstances. Registrants will be notified prior to class time and refunds will be processed.
