A free COVID-19 mobile testing clinic will be held in Darlington County on Tuesday.
Drive-thru testing will be available at St. David’s Academy, located at 116 St. David’s Street in Society Hill, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The clinic, a partnership of the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and CareSouth Carolina, is part of DHEC’s efforts to increase testing in underserved rural communities, according to a new release from the state agency.
Prescreening is not required for Tuesday’s testing, and patients will be contacted with test results within 48 to 72 hours, according to the release.
“The best way to understand the impact that this virus is having on our community is to test for it,” James Bruckner, DHEC Pee Dee regional health director, said in the release. “This is particularly important in our rural communities, where residents typically have limited access to testing and medical care.”
Individuals under 18 years of age should bring a parent a legal guardian to provide consent for the testing, Bruckner said.
