Preston Keat, head of global financial service firm UBS, will headline an online forum presented Thursday by the University of South Carolina’s Folks Center for International Business and Risk and Uncertainty Management Center.
Keat will discuss global financial risks including the effect of resistance to global trade and cross-border investment on South Carolina, countries’ ability to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the effect of U.S.-China relations on trade and supply chains.
Keat, based in London, is a managing director and head of political and country risk at UBS. He previously worked for 10 years at the political risk consultancy Eurasia Group, where he was a research director, head of the Europe practice and management committee member.
The co-author of The Fat Tail: The Power of Political Knowledge for Strategic Investing, Keat has a Ph.D. from UCLA, a master’s from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s from the College of William and Mary.
The free Zoom event, to be held from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., is sponsored by the Rachel and Jim Hodges Fund. Keat will also participate in a post-address Q&A session. Registration is available online.
