Greenville Renewable Energy Education Charter School plans to build campuses in Charleston and Spartanburg to open in fall 2019, according to a news release.

Along with a STEAM curriculum — science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics — Green Charter School provides individualized student learning plans, small class sizes and after-school and Saturday tutoring free of charge, the release said.

Green Charter Schools have an energy education curriculum and an engineering curriculum, and they partner with Clemson’s Women in Science and Engineering program that promotes a variety of STEM majors and careers to female students.

The student population of the current two Green Charter Schools, in Greenville and Columbia, represent more than 40 countries, the release said. The schools have 996 students combined.
