Greenwood boutique hotel opens uptown steakhouse

Operators of The Inn on the Square in Greenwood say they’re trying to boost the local restaurant scene with today’s opening of a steakhouse.

The Cambridge Chophouse, in the spot previously known to guests as the Carriage House, has transformed into a fully renovated and redesigned steakhouse, according to a news release, with newly appointed Executive Chef Larry Johnson setting out to redefine the culinary landscape of the town.

“Creating the menu for Cambridge Chophouse has been a labor of love,” Johnson said in the news release. “We've poured our heart and soul into crafting a dining experience that elevates the art of steakhouse cuisine. Our goal is to create dishes that leave a mark on your taste buds.”

The Cambridge Chophouse name commemorates the history of Greenwood and is located within the confines of Greenwood’s only uptown full service upscale boutique hotel — The Inn on the Square.

Open 4-9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, the Chophouse’s dinner menu highlights starters such as shrimp tempura, locally sourced crab cake and crispy spring rolls; main dischess such as filet mignon, grilled Antarctic salmon and linguine with white wine sauce; and desserts such as homemade peach shortbread and peanut butter pie. Vegetarian options also are available.

“Cambridge Chophouse is a culmination of our commitment to providing our guests with great service and an unforgettable dining experience,” Tom Snell, regional manager, said in the release. “We believe that the addition of this exceptional steakhouse to Inn on the Square will not only enhance our guests' experiences but also solidify our reputation as a destination that embodies excellence in every aspect. Inn on the Square, with 51 rooms and suites, is part of the Edgewater Group, which was founded in 2008 with a focus on providing distressed advisory services to financial institutions. Since its formation it has grown into a multidisciplinary real estate firm that provides distressed advisory, management and value-add investment services. Edgewater's focus is on the micro and middle market segments in secondary and tertiary locations.
