The organization’s Greenville hospitals include St. Francis Downtown and St. Francis Eastside.
The ranking puts them in the top 1% of hospitals in the nation for “consistently providing overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of conditions and procedures year over year,” according to the Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals Awards website.
“This recognition is proof that Bon Secours is living up to its mission of extending the compassionate ministry of Jesus by improving the health and well-being of our communities, and bringing good help to those in need. It’s an honor for me to serve alongside all of our Greenville associates — the people who go above and beyond on a daily basis to ensure the best care possible in every respect. That commitment results in the outstanding care that can truly change the lives of our patients,” Matt Caldwell, president of Bon Secours’ Greenville market, said in a news release.
Healthgrades America’s Best Hospital Awards analyzed the performance of nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide across 32 conditions and procedures, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, respiratory failure, sepsis and stroke, according to the news release. Overall patients treated in hospitals named as America’s Best Hospitals have, on average, a 26.6% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive this award.
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System was the only hospital in South Carolina to be recognized as a top 50 hospital.
Bon Secours-Greenville is part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, one of the 20 largest health systems in the United States and the fifth-largest Catholic health system in the country.o
