The new Panera Bread at 1135 Muhlenbergia Drive in Mount Pleasant is raising funds for East Cooper Community Outreach through the Round Up at the Register program.

Customers can round their order total to the nearest dollar, and 100% of the funds raised with be donated to the nonprofit.


One80 Place has been selected as one of 42 nonprofits across the U.S. to receive a grant through the third annual Day 1 Families Fund. The grant includes $5 million to rehouse families directly from the street, provide children with better educational supports and offer a new nightly shelter.


Kiawah Island Club & Real Estate and Angel Oak Elementary School have partnered to renovate the school’s outdoor facilities and provide more space and support for learning opportunities outside the classroom.

Kiawah Island Club & Real Estate built an outdoor classroom, cleaned up existing planter boxes, built a new greenhouse and music wall and completed several paint projects around the school property. To maintain these new programs, Kiawah Island Club & Real Estate employees will visit the school on a monthly basis to check on progress, oversee general maintenance and assist in any way they can.  

This company-wide volunteer program launched Nov. 9, with each team working on individual volunteer efforts around Johns Island.


Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina is one of 20 community foundations in the U.S. to receive $1 million from Facebook to manage grant-making programs supporting Black communities and Black-led nonprofits.

The foundation will award funds over two years to nonprofit organizations and programs in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties supporting innovation, creativity and resiliency in Black communities.

Funds from the Facebook grant will also support The Lowcountry Unity Fund of Coastal Community Foundation, The N.E.W. Fund of Coastal Community Foundation, Black Giving Circle, and institutional support for Black-led nonprofits.
