The American Heart Association’s Lowcountry Heart Walk raised more than $1.24 million in its first million-dollar walk in the state.

The event took place Feb. 29 and included 5,000 supporters and survivors from across the state supporting cardiovascular research and education.

Crossfit Charleston has partnered with Indigo Reef Brewing Co. to host Kettlebells & Kegs, a fundraiser benefiting Postpartum Support Charleston.

The event begins at 1 p.m. March 14 at Indigo Reef Brewing, at 2079 Wambaw Creek in Charleston.

Teams of five will compete to see who can complete the most kettlebell swings in 30 minutes. Available weights are 50 and 40 pounds for men and 30 and 18 pounds for women.

Registration is $20 per person, and the winning team will receive a prize bag and a free pint of beer.

Burtons Grill, Mount Pleasant Towne Centre and the Charleston Animal Society have partnered to host Paws on the Patio. $10 from each registration will be donated to the Charleston Animal Society.

The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month in March, April and May, and September, October and November.

Guests can bring dogs for happy hour on the patio of Burtons Grill, at 1875 U.S. Highway 17 N. in Mount Pleasant. For $25 per person, attendees will receive two drink tickets and an appetizer buffet.

Each dog will receive a party favor from Hairy Winston Pet Boutique.
