Downtown Columbia’s Hotel Trundle is now a part of Southern Living magazine’s Hotel Collection network.

The Taylor Street boutique hotel will be listed among the magazine’s curated network of 24  recommended hotels, inns and resorts across the South. The hotels are selected by the Southern Living editorial staff for their hospitality, amenities, unique rooms and location, according to a news release.

As part of the selection process, Hotel Trundle owners Rita Patel and Marcus Munse met with Southern Living’s editorial staff at the company headquarters in Birmingham, Ala.

It’s a real milestone, one of which we are extremely proud, and one that will help this city shine even brighter throughout the Southeast and across the country.”

Patel and Munse’s vision for the hotel converted the former Western Auto, Rose Talbert, and Powell buildings into the 41-room hotel, which includes original exposed brick and stamped ceiling tiles.

The Boudreaux Group, whose new offices were part of the project, was the architect on the transformation. Mashburn Construction was the contactor and Pond & Co. handled the interior design.

The project has won awards including adaptive reuse and design honors from GlobeSt.com and Historic Columbia, as well as the inaugural People’s Choice award from Columbia American Institute of Architects.

Southern Living magazine has 15 million subscribers and is the seventh highest-paid title in the United States, according to the release, and S.C. is the fourth most popular state for subscribing travelers to visit. Hotel Trundle will receive digital and print exposure in the magazine.

Other Southern Living Hotel Collection sites in S.C. include The Inn at Patrick Square in Clemson, The Inn & Club at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island, Anchorage 1770 in Beaufort, and The Willcox Hotel in Aiken.
