Helping Out highlights some of the many charitable events and activities going on in the Charleston area. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.

The annual Mount Pleasant Charity Open is scheduled for July 27-29 at Patriots Point Links on Charleston Harbor. Patriots Point selects a tournament beneficiary each year, and proceeds from the 2018 event will go to Bert’s Big Adventure. Bert’s Big Adventure is an all-expenses-paid, five-day trip to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families.

The cost for the 54-hole stroke play tournament is $220 per player, with cart, green fees, food and beverages included. It also includes awards and a tee gift. The tournament is open to professionals and amateurs. Participants can register by email or by calling 843-881-0042.

Wild Dunes Resort’s new Family Sea Turtle Package benefits the S.C. Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Care Center, which rehabilitates injured sea turtles. The package is available through September and starts at $249 per night.

The package includes accommodations and drink vouchers, as well as four tickets to the aquarium and an Uber gift card for transportation there and back. Guests also receive a sea turtle bag, sticker and plush toy, and the resort makes a $10 donation to the sea turtle center.

Wild Dunes Resort is also going strawless in all its restaurants and bars, installing “Sea Turtle Safe” beach signage at the Grand Pavilion, hosting weekly beach sweeps and sponsoring the Isle of Palms Turtle Trek on Sept. 29.
