Football success for Clemson University means more opportunity for GSP airlines and more options for Clemson fans wanting to reach the other coast. Three airlines have added nonstop flights to California for the final college game of the season.

Clemson fans planning trips to San Jose, Calif., to watch the Tigers play for the national title have nonstop flight options from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.

Delta Air Lines and American Airlines each added one nonstop flight from GSP to SJC — San Jose International Airport — before the Clemson Tigers rematch with the Alabama Crimson Tide, according to an announcement from GSP.

Flights will depart from GSP on Jan. 4 and Jan. 5. United Airlines also added a nonstop flight to San Francisco International Airport, SFO, from GSP on Jan. 6.

“We are once again pleased that our airline partners have made air travel more convenient for Clemson fans departing from the Upstate,” Dave Edwards, GSP’s president and CEO, said in the news release. “The airport has definitely enjoyed a special type of energy lately with holiday travelers and excited Clemson fans.”

Delta’s flight from GSP to SJC will depart Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. American’s flight to SJC will depart from GSP on Jan. 5 at 12:15 p.m. United’s flight to SFO will depart on Jan. 6 at 11:45 a.m., according to the news release.

After the game, Delta will offer a return flight leaving SJC at 10 a.m. American will offer two nonstop flights to GSP from SJC at 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. United’s flight will depart from SFO at 11:15 a.m. All return flights will be on Jan. 8.
