Cell phone case company Mr. Penguin Designs took home $5,000 Wednesday night as winner of the 2015 Ignite! Ideas Contest.

Founded by USC student Vincent Felix, the business partners with local, student artists to create one-of-a-kind protective cell phone cases. It aims to help students gain exposure for their artwork while providing them with residual income, via royalties, throughout college.

Felix’s startup was selected via public, online voting during EngenuitySC’s Ignite! celebration at the University of South Carolina Alumni Center. He edged out fellow finalists KOIOS, an internet browser extension to search public library catalogs; and Vesta, a mobile-driven wedding registry system for local shops instead of big box stores.

Felix will use the money to execute his marketing campaign. Mr. Penguin Designs will collaborate with USC student media organizations to create an effective communications campaign to reach its target audiences on the campus and in the surrounding areas.
