Discussion of regional transportation and technology set Nov. 30

Plans for a possible automated transit system at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport will be discussed as part of an innovative transportation and technology workshop Nov. 30 at Greenville County Square. Greenville County Economic Development Corp., Ten at the Top and others are sponsoring the free event. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required.

GSP President and CEO Dave Edwards has said the airport is trying to recruit tenants for its property on Interstate 85 and is evaluating possibly providing a transportation link to the terminal.

Other scheduled speakers are Club Car, LLC Global Strategic marketing Director Mike Cotter and state Rep. Garry Smith, R-Simpsonville. There will be group discussions about GreenVillages economic development, potential SmartCity Applications, research and testing and best potential opportunities for the Upstate.

The workshop begins at 9 a.m. Following lunch, an “Internet of Things” session will envision smarter energy, water, waste, sewer, safety and communications that relate to improved quality of life and connectivity and access to work, education, health care and recreation.
