Columbia-headquartered South State Bank has been named to Forbes’ inaugural best-in-state banks list, ranking second in South Carolina.
Forbes and partner Statista surveyed more than 25,000 banking customers in the U.S., asking their opinions on current and former banking relationships. Respondents ranked banks on overall satisfaction as well as trust, terms and conditions, branch services, digital services and financial advice.
Nationwide, 124 banks made the list. In S.C., Bank of Travelers Rest ranked first, while Anderson Brothers Bank ranked third.
“Our talented employees are the reason our customers choose to bank with us,” John Windley, president and CEO of South State Bank, said in a news release. “They work hard every day to make our customers feel welcomed and valued, serving as trusted advisors to deliver financial services that make customers’ lives better.”
South State, with more than $14 billion in assets, is the largest bank headquartered in South Carolina with more than 2,000 employees and 100 branch locations in the state. It operates in 29 of 46 S.C. counties.
