Frank Bullard has joined Florence-based First Reliance Bank as its Charleston market president.

BullardBullard, who has more than 37 years of banking experience, will be responsible for the strategic market expansion of the bank’s footprint in the Charleston market and will oversee sales management and community development in the area.

A First Reliance Bank spokeswoman said Bullard replaces former Charleston market president Ben Brazell. He will work out of the bank’s Mount Pleasant branch on South Shelmore Boulevard. There is also a Charleston branch on Cumberland Street.

Prior to retirement in 2019, Bullard served as the president of BB&T’s Charleston and Coastal markets.

“Frank has had an incredible banking career, and we are honored that he is willing to come out of retirement to assist First Reliance Bank as we continue our progress in the Charleston region,” said Rick Saunders, First Reliance Bank president and CEO. “His leadership experience and banking relationships will be important for First Reliance Bank in further connecting with the Charleston area.”

Robert Dozier, the chief banking officer at First Reliance Bank, said Bullard is a leader who understands the Charleston market, and the team at the bank could not be more excited for the leadership and experience he will bring.

“Our entire team is dedicated to helping customers in our Charleston market take full advantage of our many products and services,” Dozier said. “As a community bank, we’re able to develop deeper, more personal relationships with our customers and excel in delivering best-in-class personal service.”
