Ameris Bank has made a record-breaking $150,000 donation to the South Carolina Research Authority Industry Partnership Fund. The gift is the largest the SCRA has ever received from a bank in the organization’s 38 years, Ameris Bank said in a news release.
SCRA works closely with academic institutions, entrepreneurs and industry partners to focus on advancing South Carolina’s manufacturing, information technology and life sciences. The donation will help fuel innovation throughout the state by supporting SCRA in those three key areas.
“We are firmly committed to the sustainability, well-being and growth of businesses in South Carolina,” said Richard Sturm, Ameris Bank regional president for South Carolina, in the release. “That begins with being a leader in innovation and technology, and we fully support the SCRA’s mission to continue to bring jobs and industry to our state.”
Established in 2006, the Industry Partner Fund focuses on sustaining and growing the state’s technology-based economy. Last year, IPF contributions helped fund more than $5 million in technology-related grants and investments, the release said.
Ameris Bank, which operates nine full-service banking locations across South Carolina, recently ranked 28 on Forbes’ 2021 America’s Best Banks list. State branches cover the Midlands, Greenville, Charleston and Beaufort regions.
