Greenville’s Boyd Cycling and Greer’s Srikanth Kodeboyina, of Blue Eye Soft, have been recognized by the SBA South Carolina District Office as 2019 National Small Business Week winners for the state. Boyd Cycling was named Small Business Exporter of the Year and Kodeboyina was named South Carolina Minority Small Business Person of the Year, according to a news release.
The 2019 Salute to Small Business Awards Luncheon is on May 1 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. It is a National Small Business Week event organized by the SBA South Carolina District Office, S.C. Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, SCRA, Small Business Development Center and the S.C. Department of Commerce.
“Our goal is to honor and recognize our winners for their hard work and dedication to advancing the small business community," Gregg White, district director for the SBA South Carolina District Office, said in the release. "Most importantly, we appreciate the jobs and opportunities they continue to create for the South Carolina economy. We also value our lenders who provide the funding that is necessary for businesses to start, grow and expand."
The winners for the 2019 Salute to Small Business Awards are:
- National Small Business Person of the Year: Adam Huneau, Alodia's Cucina Italiana in Lexington
- National Small Business Exporter of the Year: Boyd and Nicole Johnson, Boyd Cycling in Greenville
- National Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award: Beaufort Area Small Business Development Center
- S.C. Rural Small Business Person of the Year: Hemalata Patel, Courtesy Management in Orangeburg
- S.C. Female Small Business Person of the Year: Karen Jenkins, KRJ Consulting in Columbia
- S.C. Minority Small Business Person of the Year: Srikanth Kodeboyina, Blue Eye Soft in Greer
- S.C. Veteran Small Business Person of the Year: Date Sutcliffe, Vetfriends LLC in Mount Pleasant
- S.C. Young Entrepreneur of the Year: Kathryn Couch, Pink Stable in Camden
Each year since 1963, the president has issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week. The 2019 National Small Business Week is May 5-11 with events in Washington, D.C., around the country and online, the release said.
