Richland County is holding two additional training sessions for organizations interested in applying for emergency federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The county received $16 million in funding from ARPA to help small businesses, nonprofits and other organizations impacted by COVID-19 and started accepting applications for the funding on Sept. 1, according to a news release.

The sessions will be held in County Council chambers on the second floor of the Richland County Administration Building, 2020 Hampton St. in downtown Columbia and are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21 and 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22.

Staff members from county administration and the office of budget and grant management, as well as representatives from third party reviewer Grant Thornton Public Sector LLC, will be on hand to discuss eligibility requirements and the application process and answer questions, the release said.

Applicants may apply in up to three of the following categories, with a separate application required for each category: small businesses; nonprofits; workforce training; education assistance; home repairs for seniors; addressing food insecurity; broadband services in underserved areas; affordable housing; services for unhoused people; and youth and recreational services.

Grant Thornton will review all applications to ensure they qualify for funding. Those that qualify will advance to a county committee for review, and funding will be awarded based on competitive criteria for each category.

Eligible organizations can apply for funding online via ZoomGrants through Sept. 30: https://bit.ly/rc-arpagrant.
