Former commander of Joint Base Charleston lands executive role

A Charleston health care staffing firm has expanded its focus on government services with the addition of a new executive.

Floyd Lee Locums added Marc Greene to its organization, a veteran with 22-plus years of service, according to a Floyd Lee Locums news release. Greene joins the organization to spearhead and build its Government Affairs Division, dedicated to supporting health care staffing needs at the federal and state levels, according to the release.

“We are thrilled to have someone of Marc’s caliber and background join us on our path to transforming our staffing industry,” said CEO Natasha Lee in the release. “As Floyd Lee Locums expands its focus beyond our core hospital physicians business, Marc’s knowledge and experience will inform how we model our Federal and State sector contracts and partnerships.”

Greene joined the organization after spending decades in the defense and medical sectors, according to the release. Most recently as the commander of Joint Base Charleston, where he was chief executive of a military base with 24,000 employees — and, before that, working as Special assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Making strides in his initial weeks with the company, Greene established a program that connects Floyd Lee Locums’ health care providers with the opportunity to perform Military Disability Evaluations (MDE), the release stated. MDEs are used by the Veteran’s Administration to adjudicate service-related disability claims and are a tangible way for medical professionals to thank our departing military and veterans for their service.

“Coming to an organization like Floyd Lee Locums after years of Defense service has felt like a perfect fit,” said Greene in the release. “Their commitment to service members and veterans through their Operation: Career Freedom program — and foundational employee volunteer program We Serve — demonstrates an investment in serving our country and communities. I look forward to layering in my history of organizational and team leadership, business development, and change management to support them in this charge.”

In addition, Greene is a board member of the Low County American Red Cross and an executive fellow with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. In 2021, he was named one of the “50 Most Influential” by Charleston Business Magazine. Greene holds a doctorate focused in military strategy from the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies — and a certificate in executive leadership from Cornell University.
