Since the company closed on the site, the university has announced plans for the training facility to the north, its football offices to the west and the intramural park to the south.
The 792-bed, 17-building project will have a pool, clubhouse and courts for volleyball and basketball as well as outdoor televisions by the “resort pavilion” that contains ping pong, billiards and foosball.
Plans include 18 two-bedroom units that rent for $740 per bedroom monthly, 72 three-bedroom units that will rent for $695 per bedroom monthly, and 108 four-bedroom units that will rent for $650 per bedroom monthly. Flats will be on the first floor while townhouses will take the second and third floors in each building, the developer said.
Called Wildwood Columbia, the apartment project is bounded by Gamecock Park, the USC indoor practice facility, practice fields, National Guard Road, South Stadium Road and future intramural fields.
No cost figure for the project was announced. However, the company said in January 2015 it sold a similar complex on Shop Road that it had developed in 2008 for $70 million.
