The Woodlands at Furman broke ground Thursday for 28 new homes that will be part of the continuing care retirement community’s Villas project.
The Villas are located on the southern end of The Woodlands' 22-acre campus on the Swamp Rabbit Trail adjacent to Furman University.
Twelve of the homes will sit near the 17th tee at the Furman University Golf Course. There will be four plans to choose from ranging from 2,200 to 2,800 square feet, according to a news release.
“The Woodlands has become synonymous with being forward thinking and proactive when it comes to offering new concepts for how retirement in the Upstate, and the Southeast in general, can work,” Kevin Parker, executive director of The Woodlands at Furman, said in the release. “The Villas is an exciting step to the future of what we can offer our aging population.”
Each villa will include power blinds, Alexa voice control, a golf cart and golf cart garage, docking station for an electric vehicle, and an iPad that connects directly to the community’s system so residents can place work orders, according to the release.
