Cumming leads repair projects in Newberry County

Cumming has started work on six renovation and repair projects for Newberry County. The projects total $6.35 million and come under the Capital Project Sales Tax Program in the county.

(Photo/Provided)Three large-scale projects including improvements to Newberry County’s Detention Center and Library Museum along with mechanical updates at the local Opera House.

Project specifics include:

  • Newberry County Detention Center: A new roof, ceilings, plumbing, mechanical improvements and the addition of an outdoor exercise area, as well as environmental abatement
  • Newberry County Library Museum: A new elevator addition along with a third level mezzanine and a complete renovation of the existing interior spaces
  • Newberry County Opera House: Replacement of the existing mechanical equipment

“We make sure all of the scheduled renovation projects are completed and that the facilities are ready, despite any construction or weather challenges the team may need to navigate along the way,” said Barry Evans, vice-president at Cumming. 

Repairs and renovations are expected to be completed by June 2019.
