Upstate Warrior Solution held a groundbreaking ceremony at its future Rupert Huse Veteran Center on March 16 in Greenville.

The 40,000-square-foot facility is intended to serve as a hub for veteran services in the Upstate, allowing the nonprofit to extend the reach of services to veterans and their families. Partners from the public, private and nonprofit sectors will be co-located at the center in a strategic effort to improve collaboration and streamline veteran care, according to a news release.

The project aims to facilitate Upstate Warrior Solutions’ efforts to reduce veteran suicide rates, unemployment and homelessness.

The nonprofit signed a 10-year lease for the 770 Pelham Road space with Real Op Investments in 2021 and expects to open its doors later this year.

“Care for our local warriors and their families is challenging, as the existing base of services is often disconnected and difficult for our veterans to navigate,” Charlie Hall, president of Upstate Warrior Solution, said in the release. “Our veterans need meaningful employment, stable housing, affordable health care, and social connectivity, and our current system of support is not getting the job done. As a result, our community is going to take a new approach.”

The Junkyard high intensity tactical training studio has joined Poogan’s Southern Kitchen, Belladina’s Italian Market and Cohesive Coffee as a future tenant of an incoming Mauldin’s Bridgeway Station community. The 3,976-square-foot gym hosts 45-50 minute group workouts featuring treadmills, cycles, rowers and a functional lifting station and has existing locations in Anderson and Greenville, with a Clemson location opening soon.

Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina opened the doors of its new Berea location on Wednesday. The 6700 White Horse Road location will be the second location to feature Goodwill’s new interior design and follows the reopening of its Sulphur Springs location in February.

On March 2, entrepreneur Caitlin Donovan moved her third Amazing Lash Studio into the company’s first Greenville location on 606 S. Main St. Donovan plans to expand her business with three additional locations in the Greenville, Spartanburg and Asheville markets by 2023.
