State Credit Union is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its new location in downtown Columbia today.
A trio of Columbia-headquartered firms are involved in the 50,000-square-foot, three-story project at 800 Huger St. Hood Construction Co. Inc. is the contractor, while Boudreaux is the architect and LCK LLC will provide project management services.
“After careful review of numerous proposals with our project manager and architectural team, we have chosen Hood Construction to make our vision a reality,” Jim Kinard, president of State Credit Union, said in a news release. “It is our hope that our members and employees will be pleased with the expenditure and our new state-of-the-art facility. This groundbreaking ceremony symbolizes both our historic growth and promising future.”
Cox & Dinkins of Columbia is the civil engineer, while BELKA Engineering of West Columbia is providing electrical engineering services. West Columbia’s Mabry Engineering Associates is the structural engineer and Columbia’s MECA Inc. the mechanical engineer.
State Credit Union has branches on Broad River Road, Colonial Drive and St. Andrews Road, as well as in the Northeast and Lower Richland.
The Huger Street location will consolidate and expand SCU’s headquarters between Greene and College streets. Expected to be completed next summer, the headquarters will feature a prominent two-story central entry that connects an existing two-story office space to a three-story addition. The renovated and new space will total nearly 74,000 square feet.
Car wash coming to Gervais Street
Time to Shine Car Wash Inc. has purchased 1.9 acres at 2006 Gervais St. for the newest area location of a state-of-the-art facility.
The company also has a location on Forest Drive and is continuing to expand in the Southeast, according to a news release from Trinity Partners, which facilitated the transaction.
William Mills, Trinity senior brokerage associate, represented the car wash in the purchase of the Five Points property.
“The 1.884-acre site is in a premium Five Points location,” Mills said in the release. “Time to Shine Car Washes are known for their very nice facilities, and this new addition to Gervais Street will certainly add some much-needed color to the corridor.”
The eco-friendly car wash chain will be situated across from The Station at Five Points and adjacent to Cook Out and a Food Lion-anchored shopping center, The Marketplace at Harden. The property has 200 feet of frontage along Gervais Street.
