The Greenville Theatre will introduce the work of new producing artistic director, Max Quinlan, to the Emerald City through the theater’s first live performance in 16 months tonight.

Based on the book by Jamie Wooten, Jessie Jones and Nicholas Hope, the comedy The Dixie Swim Club follows five women who started their friendship on their college swim team and meet every August. According to the news release, these women rely on one another to get through life's challenges, including some humorous twists and turns.

“It is great to be back to theatre after such a long hiatus,” Director Suzanne McCalla said in the release. “And this play celebrates relationships and enduring friendships, which makes it particularly relevant after many long months of isolation.”

The Dixie Swim Club features Kristi Parker Byers as Lexie Richards, Mary Freeman as Sheree Hollinger, Beth Munson as Vernadette Simms, Ashleigh Stowe as Jeri Neal McFeeley and Kelly Wallace as Dinah Grayson.

Tickets prices for adults are $30, seniors $29 and juniors $22. The show will play on July 29 and August 5 and 12 at 7:30 p.m., July 30 -31 and August 6 – 7 and 13 – 14 at 8:00 p.m. and August 1,8 and 15 at 3:00 p.m.

"I look forward to finding new ways to expand this theater, both within the Greenville community and beyond,” Quinlan said in a statement when he was hired this spring. "There is no doubt that Greenville Theatre, like the famous Falls Park on the Reedy, will soon be synonymous with our city itself."
