Joint Base Charleston prepares relief supplies for Hurricane Irma.

As the Lowcountry of South Carolina prepared for the possible landfall of Hurricane Irma, flight crews from Joint Base Charleston were already in the air sending supplies and vehicles to help residents of Puerto Rico.

Tech. Sgt. Jose Rodriguez, 1st Combat Camera Squadron, was in North Charleston as the airmen were loading up, fueling up and going up. If you've never flown on a C-17, you can get a sense of take-off around the 5-minute mark. These massive jets haul military equipment, relief supplies and people anywhere around the world ... and do so frequently.
