Spartanburg County is getting a new industrial park. Red Rock Developments, along with NAI Earle Furman, have announced plans for Smith Farms Industrial Park at the intersection of S.C. Highway 101 and S.C. Highway 296.

According to a news release from Red Rock Developments of Columbia Smith Farms has direct access to Interstate 85 and Interstate 26 as well as close proximity to BMW Manufacturing, GSP International Airport and the Inland Port in Greer. Smith Farms’ strategic location allows for ease of access to both the Port of Charleston and the Port of Savannah in addition to being within two hours of Atlanta and Charlotte, the news release said.

Smith Farms is about 475 acres of fully entitled industrial park with all utilities. Red Rock is the exclusive developer for build-to-suit and speculative buildings, the company said in a news release.  Red Rock Developments' long-term plan for Smith Farms is to complete over 5.9 million square feet of Class A industrial space.

“The announcement of Smith Farms Industrial Park is a very positive development for Red Rock Developments, NAI Earle Furman, the Smith Family and Spartanburg County,” David Britt, Spartanburg County Economic Development Committee chairman and Economic Futures board member, said in a prepared statement. “Red Rock's choice to establish an industrial park of this size and caliber is a testament to the potential the Highway 101 corridor holds for future development in Spartanburg County. We expect this development to be another outstanding asset for Spartanburg County to attract nationally known companies that will bring quality jobs to our region.”

A spokesperson for the Smith family also praised the project.

“My brother Charles and I looked at various options for developing our farm property that the Smith Family has owned for multiple generations,” said Myrna Smith Boland in the Red Rocks press release. “We wanted a plan that would benefit our community; a plan that would make our ancestors proud. Red Rock showed us a vision that allows us to give back to our community through job creation and tax base growth. Charles and I are excited about working with Red Rock and NAI Earle Furman to make this vision for Smith Farms a reality."
