A logistics company is expanding in Charleston County, creating 35 jobs in the process.

Argents Air Express Ltd., headquartered in Hilton Head, is investing $400,000 in its North Charleston location to increase the company’s fulfillment and distribution capabilities to service its Southeast clients, as announced in a news release.

The expansion is expected to be completed this fall, bringing the company’s nationwide footprint to more than 350,000 square feet.

“With our family being in the Lowcountry for over 25 years, we couldn’t be more excited about our expansion in the Charleston area,” said Tony Chiappetta, co-owner of Argents Air Express, in a statement. “The continued growth of the port and access to an ever-growing pool of talent, we are confident that this facility is the perfect place to expand our full suite of logistics offerings.”

Argents Air Express was founded in 1977 and provides import, export and domestic freight services to retailers and consumers alike. As they transition out of their warehousing location at 9015 Slightline Drive in North Charleston, they will continue operations at 4115 Dorchester Road, Building 600.

Other Argents locations across the country include Chicago and Seattle.

“Argents Air Express’ announcement is a direct reflection of the growth in the warehousing and distribution industry due to rising consumer demands,” said Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor in a statement. “Our world-class assets continue to distinguish Charleston County as a superior place to do business.”
