Midwest firm breaks ground in Upstate industrial park

Kansas City-based firm Hunt Midwest is building the first industrial facility in Anderson’s new Evergreen Logistics Park as part of the company’s expansion across South Carolina.

The 258,801-square-foot industrial facility is scheduled for a fourth quarter completion this year and will be the first building at the 1105 Scotts Bridge Road industrial park. Additional buildings will provide tenants build-to-suit spaces ranging from 75,000 to 1 million square feet based on market demand, according to a news release.

“Anderson County offers immediate access to one of the biggest supply chain and distribution corridors in the U.S.,” Michael Bell, Hunt Midwest’s senior vice president of commercial real estate, said in the news release. “Across all markets, our team has been strategic in placing developments in locations where logistics and distribution companies can lower costs while maximizing efficiency within their distribution and supply chain operations.”

Evergreen Logistics Park’s distribution capabilities provide one-day shipping to more than 94 million people and two-day shipping to more than 245 million people, according to the release.

 “Forthcoming industrial developments like Evergreen Logistics Park are evidence of the continuing growth of logistics in Anderson County — and the demand for our productive citizens who possess a strong work ethic,” Anderson County Councilman Brett Sanders said in the release. “We’re looking forward to the additional economic development Evergreen Logistics Park will offer and continuing to create opportunities for our great citizens.”

Seamon Whiteside, LS3P and Evans General Contractors are overseeing construction at the 200-acre park, while CBRE represents the park’s leasing opportunities. 

“The pro-business environment, skilled labor force, interstate accessibility, population growth, and supply chain demand drivers have propelled Hunt Midwest to expand its footprint into Anderson County,” Ora Reynolds, president and CEO of Hunt Midwest, said in the release. “Anderson County’s central location on the I-85 corridor with a high concentration of manufacturers makes it ideal for development of new Class A manufacturing and logistics buildings.”

Evergreen Logistics Park represents the second development by Hunt Midwest in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson market following construction at the Fort Prince Logistics Center. The company has 7 million square feet of logistics and manufacturing space under construction or in development within the Southeast with plans for additional projects in the Palmetto State.
