Columbia jeweler and fine artist Allison Cicero Moore is the new artist-in-residence at the Richland County Library.

Moore, originally from Illinois, also teaches art in Columbia and enjoys finding connections between jewelry and human experiences.

“Despite being an inanimate object, jewelry also often plays a role in human interactions, potentially strengthening, defining or even straining relationships,” Moore said in a news release.

Moore will have weekly office hours at the library’s main branch at 1431 Assembly St. to answer questions and share knowledge. She will also offer programs for all ages and provide pieces for an upcoming exhibit.

The library’s artist-in-residence program, developed in 2016, aims to connect the community with local working artists.

Moore’s residency will conclude in May 2019.
