Eleanor Beardsley, a National Public Radio Paris correspondent, will address the political aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the European Union in a virtual forum hosted by the Folks Center for International Business at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business.

Beardsley, a 1991 graduate of the Moore School’s Master of International Business Studies program, will share her international perspective on the pandemic in the event, titled “Politics of COVID-19 in the European Union: Notes from the Front Line.” She will discuss Europe’s successes and failures in dealing with the pandemic, different countries’ approaches to the pandemic and how COVID-19 may alter life in Europe.

The online forum will be held on Zoom from 4 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. on March 10 and will include time for audience questions. The event is free and open to the public. Registration is available online.

Beardsley covers French society, politics, economics and culture as part of the NPR Europe reporting team. Before residing in Paris, the S.C. native traveled throughout Europe, North Africa, Ukraine and Scandinavia to cover breaking news.

The event is sponsored by the Rachel and Jim Hodges Fund in partnership with the university’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications and The Walker Institute.
