Savannah River Nuclear Solutions recently signed agreements with two area colleges to provide funding, internships and professional training for students.

SRNS has worked with multiple colleges throughout the region and recently added memorandum of understanding agreements with The Citadel in Charleston and Paine College, a historically black college in Augusta, Ga., according to a news release.

“The opportunities offered to each school include training related to resume writing and job interviews, plus advice on personal branding designed to help students advance their careers,” said Anitra McManus of SRNS Workforce Services. “In time, we hope they will join our workforce.”

Students in academic programs featured at both colleges will be targeted for specific internship opportunities at SRNS. The opportunities will include internships in engineering and supply chain management for students pursuing STEM-based degrees at The Citadel, and opportunities for project controls internships for students enrolled in the accounting curriculum at Paine College. Other internships will be available as well.

“We have all the talent in our backyard,” McManus said. “We want to get them here to experience the site as interns, which may lead to a career with us.”

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, a Fluor-led company with Newport News Nuclear and Honeywell, is responsible for the management and operations of the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site located near Aiken.
