Greenville-based science and engineering firm Synterra Corp., recently acquired environmental geology and engineering firm Duncklee and Dunham of Cary, N.C., expanding the company to 180 employees.

The unification will bring a ninth Southeastern office under Synterra’s wing, according to a news release. The company currently is headquartered in Greenville with offices in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Charlotte and Hendersonville N.C.; Lexington and Pikeville, Ky.; and Tampa, Fla.

“Having more people in more places, people with similar yet unique skill sets, means we have broader service offerings and can perform with greater responsiveness,” Steve Precourt, president of Synterra, said in the release. “Due to the vision and hard work of Past President Mark Taylor and Vice Presidents Ruth Albright and Kathy Webb, we are now better positioned to meet the objectives of existing clients and to attract new business nationwide.”

Precourt, a professional engineer, executive and former Florida lawmaker, was established as the company’s president in August. Synterra specializes in environmental consulting, water and wastewater design, civil engineering design and air and wetlands permitting.
