Rawl, who starts work Feb. 29, previously served as president and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. At Lexington, Rawl succeeds Randy Halfacre, who retired last year.

Rawl joined the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce in 2001 as vice president of public policy and served as CEO and president from 2008 through 2014.

He previously worked with the S.C. Department of Revenue for more than 20 years. He also served with the state Treasurer’s Office, performing legislative work on several major tax bills and local reporting of debt limits, and also was chief of staff of the S.C. Department of Public Safety.

“Otis’ background and experience made him the ideal candidate for our chamber,” said Marvin Robinson, chairman of the Lexington chamber. “His impact on the chamber and our members will be immediate and powerful.”

Rawl, a native of Lexington, graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor degree from the School of Government and International Studies.
