The Oconee Economic Alliance has been recognized as one of “America’s Top Economic Development Corporations” in the February-March 2016 issue of Global Trade magazine.

In including the Oconee Economic Alliance, Global Trade highlighted the organization’s securing of more than $190 million in new capital investments in 36 months, helping Oconee County become an ACT-certified Work Ready Community and the countywide youth apprenticeship program.

Previous coverage:

“It is quite an honor to have our economic development team named one of the best by this publication,” said Glenn Buddin, chairman of the Oconee Economic Alliance. “Oconee County has many strong factors that play into this continued recognized success, such as an unmatched quality of life, an excellent location on the (Interstate-85) corridor, a progressive business climate and an extremely supportive county council. We don’t envision our economic development pursuits slowing down anytime soon.”

This is the first time Global Trade magazine has compiled a list of top economic development corporations. The Oconee Economic Alliance is the only organization in South Carolina on the list of 18 from across the country.

“These (economic development corporations) aren’t necessarily from the biggest cities; indeed, they’re not always cities, but sometimes states or independent organizations,” said Global Trade writer Keri Forsythe-Stephens. “But the common thread is that they’re using creative and effective means for attracting business.”

Global Trade is the magazine for U.S. companies doing business globally. With 100% of its distribution focused in America, its coverage includes export-centric information and how-to features ranging from site selection to global logistics and trade finance.
