The city of Columbia will present findings from public input sessions regarding Columbia Compass, the 10-year update to the city’s comprehensive plan, during two open houses next month.

The city held a series of Lunch with a Planner sessions seeking input to identify needed policies, programs and infrastructure investments involving issues such as population, natural and cultural resources, land use, transportation, housing and economic development. Information gleaned during those sessions will guide the city in a 12- to 18-month planning process as it prepares for Envision 2036, a celebration of Columbia’s 250th year.

The first open house will be held Feb. 12 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Woodland Park Gym. The second will take place Feb. 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Richland County Library’s main branch auditorium at 1431 Assembly St.

Recommendations on how to reach the vision defined during the lunch sessions will be shared, and feedback is sought.
