The city of Cayce has won a public works achievement award from the Municipal Association of South Carolina in recognition of its waterline replacement project.

The project replaced 262,000 linear feet of water lines, meters and hydrants, along with a 1 million-gallon water tank, according to a news release from the city. The $29 million project, begun in October 2017 and finished in December 2018, represents 75% of the city’s water infrastructure.

“We are honored to receive this award from the Municipal Association,” Cayce Mayor Elise Partin said in the release. “It has been exciting to see that our extensive planning that went into this project continues to make a real impact on our city and for our citizens.”

The project was financed through funding from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, the State Revolving Loan Program and the S.C. Rural Infrastructure Fund.

Cayce’s new water tank won a national award last October.
