Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg has named Parkes Coggins as its new CEO, effective March 26. Coggins joins the hospital from Carolinas Hospital System-Marion in Mullins.

“Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg has a strong tradition of providing patients with compassionate, quality care,” said Coggins, in a news release. “I am excited to work with and support the medical staff, employees and community to continue building upon and strengthening the quality care we provide patients.”

In Mullins since 2015, Coggins was effective in positioning the hospital, clinics and nursing center for the future. “Parkes has demonstrated he is an effective and efficient healthcare executive,” said H. Walter Barre, chairman, Mary Black Health System-Spartanburg Board of Trustees, in the release. “He is a strong communicator and excellent collaborator, which has led to significant relationships with providers and community stakeholders that have advanced quality care and services.”
