A portable nebulizer created by Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corp. made its health care industry debut during the Premier Inc.’s 2018 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Nashville, Tenn. earlier this month.

The annual event, in its 10th year, recognizes industry advancements and highlights innovative suppliers.

The Pocket Neb, available by prescription, is a portable vibrating mesh nebulizer that provides aerosol drug delivery to patients with respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

“Nephron Pharmaceuticals shares Premier’s commitment to providing valuable products to our alliance members that are safe, high-quality and cost-effective,” said Michael J. Alkire, Premier COO, said in a news release. “These innovations can truly benefit providers in our shared work to transform health care.”

The rechargeable device features a micro-pump design with 4,000 micro holes that allows for 98% delivery of medication in both on-demand and continuous operations.

“Nephron is honored to showcase our Pocket Neb at the 2018 Innovation Celebration amongst many other game-changing developments,” Nephron CEO Lou Kennedy said. “Our handheld nebulizer is designed to be convenient and efficient, allowing patients to take treatments on their own schedule and ensuring they are receiving the full dosage of product.”
