BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has been named to Forbes magazine’s list of best large employers in America for the second consecutive year, coming in at No. 433 out of 500 ranked insurance companies.

Forbes annually ranks the top 500 employers in 25 industries based on categories including working conditions, salary, development potential and company image. Three other Blue Cross companies, in Michigan (No. 321), Tennessee (No. 390) and Illinois (No. 407), also made the list, compiled in partnership with market research company Statista.

“Our organization is a large enterprise that attracts and retains outstanding talent in order to best serve our varied customers,” David Cote, vice president of human resources at BlueCross, said in a news release. “We offer competitive compensation and benefit programs that offer flexibility those employees need in striking a positive work-life balance. We actively promote and support professional development through education assistance programs and access to a wealth of sponsored training opportunities. These open doors to a variety of career opportunities within the organization while fostering positive employee retention.

“In addition, we are serious about our corporate leadership role in South Carolina and understand that our employees value our brand and reputation for good corporate citizenship.”

More than 50,000 Americans working for companies with at least 1,000 employees anonymously rated their employers on a scale from zero to 100 on how likely they would be to recommend the company to others. Respondents were also asked to nominate companies outside their own industries.
