Lexington Medical Center will break ground on a new, 225,000-square-foot medical facility in Northeast Columbia tomorrow morning.

The facility, located at the intersection of Clemson and Longtown roads, will provide patients with urgent care and imaging services, according to a news release. Outpatient surgery and occupational and physical therapy will also be available, and the facility will feature a walking trail and classroom space.

Lexington Medical Center, a 485-bed hospital in West Columbia, opened a 545,000-square-foot patient care tower earlier this year. The tower features patient rooms, eight operating rooms, educational space for staff and community members and enhanced dining options. It also includes six post-delivery rooms for patients in need of long-term monitoring, a mother/baby room for postpartum patients and a 20-bed special-care nursery with private rooms.
