The pandemic may have spurred on more awareness of personal health but a new dermatologist on the block in Easley argues that the era of quarantine and elective procedure bands did a number on routine check-ups.

MillerIn Dr. Jeremiah Miller’s field, it’s these visits that play a crucial role in preventing a non-emergency issue from spiraling into a lethal one, he said in a news release.

“Unfortunately, the pandemic caused many people to delay routine care which is where early-stage issues are frequently spotted,” he said in the news release. “Skin cancer, if caught early, is usually very treatable. We always want to identify potential issues early so that we can provide treatment as quickly as possible.”

Miller, a board-certified dermatologist, hopes that his new practice, Prisma Health’s Carolina Dermatology, will open accessibility to these services for both children and adults in the Easley market.

The practice opened Aug. 2 at 112 John St., Suite 201, and will be open on Mondays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The practice is on the campus of Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital, which serves the Anderson, Clemson, Liberty, Piedmont, Pickens, Powdersville and Seneca communities.

“I’m really looking forward to practicing at the new office and hopefully making it more convenient for patients to see a physician who specializes in issues related to their skin,” Miller said in the release.

As part of one of the largest dermatology practices in the Upstate, the new Carolina Dermatology of Easley office will provide care for skin conditions such as skin cancer but also issues such as rosacea, acne, rashes and warts, according to the release. The practice also has an office in Greenville.

“We are committed to providing access to outstanding specialty care that is convenient and located closer to where patients live and already receive their primary physician care,” Dr. Peter Tilkemeier, chair of the Department of Medicine of Prisma Health in the Upstate, said in the release. “It is exciting to have the expertise of Dr. Miller providing dermatology services in this community. Our goal is to provide the highest level of care across the Prisma Health footprint and beyond.”
