Cantina 76 has opened a location in Freshfields Village on Kiawah Island. This is the fourth S.C. location for the Columbia-based taqueria and bar. The menu includes Mexican-inspired cuisine and beverages, specializing in tacos, margaritas and dips.
Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. is hosting its official grand opening celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The event will include live music and games for kids and adults. Pitchers of house beer will be $4 off and include free boiled peanuts. 167 Raw will have a satellite station on the outside patio offering fresh raw seafood via an a la carte menu.
The event is free and open to the public.
The brewery is also bringing in Gullah Geechee chef BJ Dennis for a one-night collaboration menu starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Edmund’s Oast Exchange and certified sommelier Sarah O’Kelley have scheduled a Saturday Somm Schools series from 11 a.m. to noon weekly beginning Saturday. The 12-week series will serve as preparation for entry-level wine certification.
The first class will include lessons on grape growing and winemaking, and subsequent classes will focus on wine regions of the world. Tastings will be part of each class, and blind evaluation will be taught.
Each class costs $20 per person, or $10 for food and beverage industry employees.
The Park Cafe is scheduled to continue its monthly family meals with a barbecue block party from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the cafe parking lot. The event will include barbecue from Rodney Scott, with sides prepared by The Park Cafe chef Pat Gotschall.
There will be live music, local beers, and face and pumpkin painting by Artist & Craftsman Supply.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $15 for adults for all you can eat, and $10 for children. Beverages will be sold separately.
Daniel Island Grille will host a Halloween party and costume contest starting at 8 p.m. Oct. 28. The winners of the costume contest will be announced at 10 p.m., and a $100 gift card will be awarded to the best overall costume, a $50 gift card will be awarded to the best-dressed couple and a $25 gift card will be awarded to the best-dressed pet. Participants can also vote for the best-dressed employee of Daniel Island Grille.
Post House Uncorked, a monthly wine tasting, is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Old Village Post House Inn. The event will include four wines from Argentina and complementary hors d’oeuvres prepared by executive chef Antonia Krenza.
Tickets are $25 per person.
Le Creuset is holding a second Factory-to-Table Sale event Nov. 9-12 at the Charleston Area Convention Center. The retailer will host an early shopping event from 4 to 9 p.m. Nov. 9, and the sale will go on from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 10-11 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 12.
Admission is $25 on Thursday, $10 on Friday and Saturday and free on Sunday. All the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Green Heart Project and culinary scholarship funds for the Culinary Institute of Charleston students at Trident Technical College.
