The Columbia Fireflies will open their 2020 South Atlantic League season with seven straight home games beginning Thursday, April 9, against Augusta.
The Fireflies’ 140-game schedule includes 70 home games at Segra Park, rated the league’s best playing surface in 2018 by field managers and umpires.
“Our staff has worked tirelessly in preparation for the fifth season of Fireflies baseball,” Fireflies team president John Katz said in a news release. “While we are still 238 days away from the start of the 2020 season, our fans around the Midlands will be delighted to know it may be the most exciting season yet.”
The Fireflies’ last regular-season home game of 2019 will be Aug. 29 versus Hickory.
The 2020 slate will again feature Thirsty Thursday drink specials and boasts the most games scheduled for Thursday through Sunday since the team came to Columbia in 2016.
There will be 11 Saturday night games in 2020, and the Fireflies will be at home on Mother’s Day and July 4.
Game times will be announced this fall.
