A number of local vendors including The Lazy Goat and the White Duck Taco Shop will offer their take on the classic Tex-Mex meal at the festival. (Photo/Provided)High Spirits Hospitality will kick off its Tacos ‘n Tequila Fiesta on Sunday at the West End’s Old Cigar Warehouse during two sessions from noon until 3 p.m. and from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The event, hosted outdoors in partnership with local restaurants and taquerias, will help raise funding for a Restaurant Relief Fund split by participating vendors to cover general operating costs, according to a news release. Attendees must be 21 years or old and have a valid ID, as the festival will center around handcrafted Lunazul 100% agave tequila cocktails.

Postponed in May, last year’s event drew more than 1,300 patrons. A few vendors include The Lazy Goat, Papi’s Tacos, Willy Taco and White Duck Taco Shop.

Social distancing and safety precautions will be enforced, including mask wearing while in motion, table assignments, ongoing disinfectant of shared surfaces and temperature checks. Scheduled attendees that feel unwell before the event will be refunded if they notify High Spirits Hospitality 24 hours ahead, according to the release.

“We’ve learned a lot about how to host a safe and responsible event in the past few months,” Tammy Johnson, CEO of High Spirits Hospitality, said in the release. “We’re excited to be able to go through with the festival on Sept. 27.”
